Food Nutrition Information Center
My first rotation as an intern with the University of Maryland Dietetic Internship Program was with the Food Nutrition Information Center (FNIC) at the National Agriculture Library. During my five weeks at FNIC I had the privilege of working with the Web & Reference Team aiding with multiple projects on the FNIC website and Nutrition.gov. These websites promote credible sources of science-based nutrition information to both nutrition professionals and non-professionals. I was able to work updating the RSS Feeds, promoting videos, creating social media posts, and producing a hot topic article for these websites.
International Food Information Center
During my second rotation I was able to work at the International Food Information Center (IFIC). IFIC's mission is to promote science-based nutrition information about health, nutrition, and food safety to the public. During my three weeks at IFIC, I was able to help them achieve their mission by creating multiple blogs, producing media updates, developing a flyer, and identifying keywords to help with search engine optimization. In addition to these many task, I had the opportunity to attend multiple committee meetings, find performance indicators for a tweet posted by IFIC, and compiling notes, fun facts, and references.
