During my three weeks at the University of Maryland Dining Services, I was able to gain experience in food service management and employee wellness. I had the opportunity to plan and execute a gourmet meal for sixteen individuals, aid in serving the student body a delicious Thanksgiving feast, educate employees on chemical safety and a wide variety of nutrition subjects, and observe different aspects of a food service operation including management, finance, and human resources.
During my six weeks at Riderwood, I had the opportunity to work in Seasons and the Wye Oak Pub. I was able to develop my cooking skills, plan a multicultural theme meal for 125 people, and market to a wide population. I was able to work with graphics to design visually appealing flyers, menus, and decorations. Then I became a Riderwood TV star with a commercial targeted to an elderly population.
