Food and Friends
My first community rotation was at Food and Friends, a food bank who serves men, woman, and children with HIV/AIDS, cancer, ALS, Multiple Sclerosis, Alzheimer's, and more. I prepared and packaged food, and organized it for delivery. I went when I home visits and had the opportunity to observe dietitians use motivational interviewing to help clients improve their nutritional status. Finally, I planned and presented nutrition education classes and a grocery store tour. It was a great experience to educate a large group of individuals.
